16 – 17 May 2023, University of Burgos (Spain)

The DIAGONAL project partners met each other from 16 – 17 May 2023 at the Consoritum Meeting at the University of Burgos (Spain). The goal of this event was to bring DIAGONAL partners together to take the advantage of the experts to hold a Conference on Safe and Sustainability by Design strategies.

The M24 Consortium Meeting gave the project partners a great opportunity to get up to date with the activities running in the different work packages. We had very fruitful discussions! Thanks to all partners to for your contributions and friendliness! Special thanks to our coordinator ICCRAM for hosting the meeting, bringing us the Spanish culture a bit closer and for showing us a bit of their fabulous city and meals, Burgos!

Also thanks to Ramjitti Indaraprasirt (NANOTEC), member of our international Advisory Board, for joining us in person and giving us your feedback and recommendations that will help us in the upcoming months.

Thanks to our project coordinator, ICCRAM, for giving us the chance of visiting your labs. It was a pleasure to have a nice tour though all your facilities!

We use the chance of being all together, to organise 3 internal workshops on the SSbD framework (UBU, LIST), on the project outcomes (UBU) and on Innovation Management (Brimatech), which allowed us to get more insight into the project planned developments.

Additionally, UBU organised a very interesting Conference on Safe and Sustainability by Design towards Innovation on 17 May, where DIAGONAL partners had several presentations: Carlos Rumbo (ICCRAM) gave an general overview on the project, Elorri Igos (LIST) talked about the background and challenges of the sustainability assessment of nanomaterials, Ramjitti Indaraprasirt (member of DIAGONAL Advisory Board (NANOTEC)) gave an interesting talk on the National Nanotechnology Center of Thailand (NANOTEC) as Nanosafety initiative highlighting their activities and their role in standardisation and harmonisation. Finally, Christian Rein (DTI) and Marios Kourtelesis (Monolithos) gave a short presentation about their companies and their role as demonstrators in the project.
