For the past four years, the EU-funded Horizon 2020 projects DIAGONAL, HARMLESS and SUNSHINE have been working together on the challenges related to safe and sustainable multicomponent nanomaterials. These three projects were funded together under the call NMBP-16: “Safe by design, from science to regulation: multi-component nanomaterials”.
As the three sister projects come to an end, we jointly organized a Public Final Event on Wednesday, 25 September 2024, right after the NanoTox 2024 conference in Venice, Italy.
The dynamic 90-minute session showcased the ambitious goals and key achievements of the three projects. Attendees got an overview of the objectives and core elements of each one of the projects, as well as their complementary perspectives. In addition, participants gained insight into key features, main results and special focus topics. Next to that, selected case studies of each individual project were presented and discussed. An open discussion with all participants on the legacy of the projects’ outcomes raised many ideas to ensure that all those results are available for ongoing/future projects and researchers.
For DIAGONAL, project coordinator Carlos Rumbo (UBU) gave a welcome and participated in an open discussion on the legacy of the sister projects. He and Blanca Pozuelo (ITENE) presented highlights from DIAGONAL, including our Key Exploitable Result (KER) the DIAGONAL SSbD Decision Support Tool.
